Saving the Environment Starts with You!

Saving the environment starts with all of us doing our part. Every individual should start by reflecting on themselves to see how they either negatively or positively impact the environment.  By adopting certain changes, you can do your part in protecting our environment! Want to start? Here are some helpful tips and advice to help you get on the right track.

Save Energy!

Consuming less power is an easy and great start. Reducing the amount of toxic fumes released from power plants helps protect the ecosystem from destruction. Plus, you will save money on your electric bill!

  • Try to turn any lights or television sets off when not using them and also avoid using lights during the day and instead try using natural sunlight.
  • If possible, dry washed clothes outside often to cut down on the use of your dryer.
  • Remember to always be mindful of the thermostat. Feeling cold? Bundle up with some blankets. Is it gorgeous outside? Turn off the air conditioner and open up the windows for some fresh air!

Recycle!

You have heard of the saying, “reduce, re-use, recycle,” so start doing it! Reduce excess waste by freezing leftovers. Re-use items like shopping bags to cut down on plastic. Recycle materials and items by sorting them in different bins. You can get great bins from https://uk.glasdon.com/recycling-bins to help you get started. Often times, there are public recycling bins, take advantage of these and dispose of material correctly. Also, donate unwanted clothes and items to charity! Not only will you be helping the planet, you will also be helping others. One of the biggest things that you can do easily is to cut-back on single use containers or utensils such as paper plates, cups and even plastic straws.

Volunteer!

Think about playing your part in the community by volunteering for organizations that help protect the environment.  By volunteering with these groups, you get the opportunity to help spread awareness and you get the change to perform acts like picking up trash and planting trees to help contribute to saving the environment.
