Interior
The dual tone dashboard theme lends a very airy feeling inside the cabin. The tan leather seats are firm and supportive for people of all types of build, and exude luxury. All-round visibility is simply fantastic, but what’s impressive the most is the space on offer, it clearly trumps all other cars in this segment on that front. There is a lot of seating space in both the rows, and passengers won’t be complaining about legroom, kneeroom and headroom. Overall, the interior of the 500X exude a lot of luxury, and Fiat 500x has the agreeable interior amongst its competitors.
Performance
There are two engine options on offer, and the base trim comes with a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces 160 hp of power and 184 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Optional for the base and standard on the top trims is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder, which makes 180 hp of power and 175 lb-ft of torque. This motor is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. While FWD is standard across the board, AWD is available on models equipped with the 2.4-liter engine.
As evident, the pick of the lot is 2.4-liter motor. Power delivery is linear and smooth, and gearbox offers super-slick shifts. It’s the handling where 500X truly shines. The steering is full of feel and feedback, and suspension setup is one the firm side. While straight line stability is good, car feels very agile around the corners! It is super-stable around corners, not subdued even a bit, and the car is eager to dart into corners and makes you feel connected to the road. Ride quality is simply superb, with car absorbing almost everything that comes across in its path. Braking performance is also excellent, and overall, 500X is the one car whose performance will bring a wide grin on your face. As if the performance wasn’t enough to please you, fuel efficiency is rated at 28 mpg, which is very impressive.
