Last Surviving 9/11 Rescue Dog Has Birthday Party of a Lifetime

Birthday party

The tragedy of 9/11 happened 14 years ago, but we will never forget. We lost a lot of lives that day and it has forever impacted and changed us. But there were some happy tears yesterday as the last surviving rescue pup celebrated her 16th birthday in style.

I just thought this was absolutely adorable and wanted to share because it sure did bring a tear to my eye. Bretagne (pronounced like Brittany) risked her life to help others after the September 11th attacks. She searched Ground Zero with her human partner when she was jut 2-years-old.

Bretagne’s birthday was complete with a large cake and plenty of toys and treats. She even had a billboard dedicated to her in Times Square. The courageous pup got to ride in a limo on her way to revisit Ground Zero. It was a very touching moment. But that isn’t all; she also received a bone to the Hudson River dog park.

We lost a lot on September 11th, 2001. And even though yesterday was a very somber day, it was wonderful to see some good news. The people and animals we lost due to that day will never be forgotten. Happy Birthday sweet Bretagne!
